Dresner Advisory Services Publishes 2021 Data Catalog Market Study
NASHUA, NH, June 15, 2021 - Dresner Advisory Services today published the 2021 Data Catalog Market Study, part of its Wisdom of Crowds(R) series of research. Data catalogs provide the technology to simplify access to analytical content and provide collaboration and governance capabilities to make it more trustworthy and broadly available. The 5th edition report examines user segment requirements and priorities with a focus on simplified navigation/access, governance, and content collaboration capabilities.
According to the report, data catalog ranks 17th among the 44 technologies and initiatives under study. Data catalogs have emerged as a core set of capabilities for making content easier to find for analytic use cases, especially when multiple data sources are involved, and for multiple analytic use cases.
In 2021, 53% of respondents indicate analytic consumers and user cases have difficulty locating and accessing relevant analytic content. The study shows a strong correlation between the ease of finding and accessing content and the likelihood that BI initiatives will be successful.
“Of the many technologies in our annual research portfolio, data catalog stands out as a growth area that organizations continue to rank as important to their organizations,” said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer of Dresner Advisory Services. “As data continues to become more complex, we expect data catalog will remain highly important and a key to success with BI.”
Wisdom of Crowds® research is based on data collected on usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors. Users in all roles and throughout all industries contributed to provide a complete view of realities, plans, and perceptions of the market. For more information visit www.dresneradvisory.com.
